Roger Ver was already a successful entrepreneur before getting into Bitcoin, doing so greatly multiplied his riches. He is known as “Bitcoin Jesus”. He is believed to be the wealthiest Bitcoin millionaires apart from FBI and Satoshi Nakamoto. Ver was the CEO of MemoryDealers.com from 1999 until 2012. He is the CEO of Bitcoin.com and owns its domain name. Ver gained control of Bitcoin.com in April 2014.
In 2000, he attempted to enter politics by running for California State Assembly as a candidate for the Libertarian Party.
In 2002, Ver pleaded guilty after selling explosives, marketed as Pest Control Report 2000, on eBay, which the U.S. Department of Justice described as “dealing in explosives without a license”, and he was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison.
In June 2016, He was appointed the chairman of the Cryptocurrency Advisory Board for MGT Capital Investments. MGT aims to improve cybersecurity and is headed by John McAfee
Ver is mostly known for his investments in Bitcoin startups. He began investing in Bitcoin in early 2011. The first investment he made was for his close friend Charlie Shrem’s Bitinstant. The biggest of his investments involving millions of dollars are BitPay, Ripple, Blockchain and kraken. These three projects yielded him the profit which took him to the millionaire’s realm. In 2011, Ver’s company Memorydealers was the first to accept Bitcoin as payment.
Not only known for investments but also for donations, in 2012, Ver helped the establishment of the Bitcoin Foundation with a large donation. In late 2013, Ver donated more than $1 million worth of Bitcoin to the Foundation for Economic Education. Ver has donated more than $20K to antiwar.com.
